Midweek Ride 23rd Oct

Fourteen riders assembled at Orsett for todays ride ,a group of nine were soon up the road and out of sight while the other five of us enjoyed a more leisurely jaunt at about 15 mph arriving at the lunch stop 7 or 8 minutes after the others. Our ride was comfortable, incident free and sociable, the cafe was very busy today so the two groups were unable to sit together I think this was probably a first time this has happened.Once again we were joined by Jon L who made his lone way over as usual.. Most of the the fast group left early while our group plus Peter C  took our time chatting then making for Orsett a bit quicker than we went out, so ends another enjoyable day out, lucky … Read entire article »

LONDON RECREATION 5 10 19 CATCH UP…

The snapshot here says it all… In the fine cycling weather we drifted down to Woolwich and took a leisurely trip on the shiny new ferry boat across the Thames. London Recreation Ride – Saturday 5th October

Dear All. I plan to ride to London this Saturday, 5th October, starting from Grays station… 09.30. A hop up to Barking then down to Woolwich and the tunnel/ferry across and then beside the Thames upstream, at a very steady pace.  Over Tower Bridge and probably head north to intersect the Regents Canal… and homeward from there. Will make it flexible, nothing set in stone. Doing this I won’t do the Sunday ride from Bulphan, it’s likely to pour down… All welcome, bring your mates (-: The trains seem to be running ok… Reply here if you wish, otherwise just be sure to be at Grays station (platform 1) BEFORE 09.30. Have a good one (-: Cheers! Jon L  To non Gateway Cycling members reading this. The ride is not for absolute beginners, you’ll need a … Read entire article »

Midweek Ride Sept 25th

Five riders started at Orsett today including Nick G after a short break welcome back.I joined them at Puddledock where Bert H ,Peter C and later Jon L  who had made an early start and ridden to Woolwich and back all assembled making nine members in all out for todays social ride.Weather was a typical autumn mixed bag, warm, cloudy and damp but the riders seemed reasonably upbeat and not complaining about anything much.Usual chat over leisurely brunch before setting off for home when the riders were caught in at least one nasty shower so were probably a mite damp by the time they reached home. Please remember its the club s charity ride to Damyns Hall airfield this coming sunday, weather permitting hope to see you all there.
