We set off riding through Little Burstead, Billericay with a following tailwind to our destination at Hanningfield. On entering the cafe one little girl surprised to see Santa entering asked if it was Christmas. She was reassured that Santa would be visiting her on Christmas Eve with his reindeer. After coffee and cakes we began … Read entire article »

Midweek Ride 4th Dec

Inspite of forecast low temperature seven riders assembled at Orsett today for 10 am departure to Puddledock via Berwich Ponds loop.We managed to stay together as one group at a sensible pace ,not as fast as usual but not particularly slow either, ice on the puddles but the lanes perfectly safe mostly dry with a bit of dampness in the shady areas.Arrived safely at cafe where met Tina who had made way there solo by bike and three more members by car. Pleased to see Joe back with us today as he hasnt been able to make it for a few weeks.Split into three groups for return and the four of us who returned to Orsett enjoyed trouble free trip in glorious sunshine and a balmy 8 degrees.I think we … Read entire article »

Midweek Ride Today

No report last week as although usual good turnout nothing of particular note or out of the ordinary took place so did’nt want to bore you unduly with the mundane. Much the same could be said again this week but here goes anyway.Fourteen members out today soon split into a medium size group and a couple of small groups on the road.Unfortunately Tina suffered a puncture at the start so with Chris G made straight for cafe after making repairs.I made up a double act with Phil B who pulled me whole way round outward leg at around 15mph and we were last to cafe stop.I understand the fastest group averaged nearly 19 mph with the others in between.Puddledock very busy again today so a table of ten  another of … Read entire article »

Midweek Ride 30th Oct

Another good turnout today, thirteen riders ready for the 10am departure from Orsett.Looking at who had turned up I thought I’m out of my league again here  so while they were still chatting set off hoping to gain a bit of distance so would’nt  be too far behind at cafe stop.Soon caught by Chris M but manged to hang on through Bulphan until we were caught by Peter C and John K crossing the fen from where we rode as a foursome as far as Corbetts Tey.Heading round the Berich Ponds loop Tony G and Keith W came by and pulled us as far as the rise by Damyn’s Hall airfield before heading off into the  distance.Others were now getting on the wheels and led mainly by Chris M again we … Read entire article »
