Ride the Olympic Mountain Bike Course

News in from Mud Sweat and Gears for anyone that is skilled enough to be interested:  Dear All We are delighted to announce the ‘Hadleigh Farm Led Rides’ are now available to book onto with dates available until the end of January 2013. The rides are delivered by ATB Coaching and Tom Dowie Coaching. Two sessions are available, a 2 hour ‘taster session’ that will allow you to ride 4 of the features on the Olympic MTB Course for £25 and a 4 hour session which will allow you to ride the entire Olympic MTB Course and all its features multiple times for £45. Hell of the Ashdown Challenge

The Hell of the Ashdown sportive is taking place on Sunday 24th February 2013. Distance is 100k and the ride starts from Biggin Hill in Kent and winds it’s way around the picturesque Kent countryside taking in eight climbs of varying length’s and gradients. 1. Cudham Test Hill 1 in 4. 2. Toys Hill a  2 mile grind. 3. Up to Mark Beech. 4. Forest Row to Ashdown Forest Heights a  2 mile grind. 5. The Wall  an  infamous 2.5 mile grind. 6. Nouvelle Col de Groombridge. 7. Bayleys Hill  you guessed it  2.5 miles up! 8. Star Hill  the sting in the tail. ALAN ROSNER

It is with great regret that I have to advise club members that Alan Rosner passed away last night (June 1st). Alan has been a passionate cyclist and involved with cycling all his life. He was on the British Cycling Eastern Region Regional Board and a team manager for the BMC UK Racing Team as well as instrumental in the Chris Negus Memorial Fund. He has supported racing for as long as I can remember. He will possibly be remembered best for the Dengie Tour in whatever form or name it took – tirelessly organising the race until it reached a Premier Calendar event – the pinnacle of domestic British cycling.
