This is the actual bike on which local (Corringham) rider Vic Gibbons won the 1953 British Time Trial Championship. Vic won again in 1955 and was second several times. He also won British Best All-Rounder 1953 and 1954. His team, from the Brentwood Road Club, also won many national Time Trial Championships. Club Members, as a British Cycling affiliated club it is now mandatory for us to have at least one Club Welfare Officer. The Club Welfare Officer’s role is to promote the club/organisation’s policy and procedures for the protection of children and vulnerable adults. For the third year running our end of season hill climb took place up Childerditch lane, this isn’t a massively steep hill but it’s fairly long and you do have to measure your effort on this climb.
