Club Welfare Officer Required

Club Members, as a British Cycling affiliated club it is now mandatory for us to have at least one Club Welfare Officer.

The Club Welfare Officer’s role is to promote the club/organisation’s policy and procedures for the protection of children and vulnerable adults.

Over the last year the club’s junior membership has grown and this growth is expected to continue, especially when we start coaching.  Even without BC making a CWO mandatory it still would have been necessary for us to have someone in this role.

If you want to be part of this club’s growth and continued success and  this is a role you would be interested then please contact myself or the club secretary, or come talk to one of us at the next club night.

Please respond by Friday 21st November.

Candidate CWOs will need to have a Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS, this replaces the old CRB system). Candidates will also need to complete a Child Protection in sport training course. This is an online course that takes just an evening or two to complete. Further training will be available if required. Individuals who hold professional roles such as teacher or doctor may already have completed adequate safeguarding training.

For more details of this role please view the role description on the British Cycling website:
