Gateway Summer Time Trial Series – Week 3

Gateway Summer Time Trial Series – Week 3

After a day of atrocious weather the sun came out for the TT, 5 riders also braved it and came to Dunnings lane as well. Ken H and Graeme G have ridden all three TT’s so far. Ken was feeling a bit out of sorts this week, and didn’t have his TT head on, but Graeme put another PB. Steve W returned after a year away and put in a stonking time, well done Steve. Thurrock Cycle Training

The Travel Thurrock team at Thurrock Council has commissioned Trailnet to deliver a series of cycle training sessions for local residents. These will take place across the borough, with initial sessions scheduled in Purfleet, Tilbury and Stanford-le-Hope. Beginner Sessions are designed for those who either can’t cycle or who need help in improving their bike control Intermediate Sessions are for those that can ride reasonably well but lack the confidence to ride in even light traffic Advanced Sessions are for those with … Read entire article »

Gateway Summer Time Trial Series – Week 2

Gateway Summer Time Trial Series – Week 2

Getting better, 9 riders this week, which was 9 more than I expected due to the weather looking a bit grim. It remained dry and there wasn’t any wind to speak of, which kept the excuses at bay this evening.  We had 4 riders back from last week, with 3 of them putting in a better time, Ken H, Ian S, and Graeme G, and our regular ‘guest’ Simon A who was on his slow bike! Another … Read entire article »

Gateway Summer Time Trial Series – Week 1

Gateway Summer Time Trial Series – Week 1

It didn’t feel much like summer this evening as it was very grey and was threatening to rain. We had seven riders tonight which wasn’t bad for the first TT, and we always seem to get off to a slow start at the beginning of the series anyway, although I expect the numbers to improve once we get some warmer, brighter evenings. There were six club members and one guest. Six of these rode last year, Dennis … Read entire article »

A Christmas Message from the Chairman

It has been another cracking year for British cycling – two Tours de France in a row are enough to stir excitement and patriotism in the hearts of even the least competitive and most ardently recreational cyclists. Gateway Cycling has not missed out on this flush of enthusiasm. Our membership is up by about 50% compared to 2012 and in every branch of cycling the efforts of our members continue to increase. The roads around Thurrock are oft times awash with the distinctive blue colours of the club and more and more members are venturing further afield to display those colours in major sportives and other prominent events. On the track, too, our kit is becoming more noticeable with an increasing number of members putting in first class performances throughout … Read entire article »
