Ford CC Go Race 1st May

May 1st heralded the first event Ford CC’s Go Race series, reduced this year to accommodate resurfacing of the test track, which will provide a super surface for 2015.

The cool evening with drizzle and light winds awaited the 41 entrants, which included several newbies to the sport and 2 ladies. The first prime after lap 3 by Sam Brown ( non affiliated). The evidence of variation of winter miles was now coming in to play, with several riders being unable to stay with the bunch-par for the course in the season opener.

The second prime after lap 5 was taken by Craig Nicholls ( Glendene CC ). There were no notable breakaway attempts before the 3rd prime on lap 9 which was again taken by Sam Brown. Soon after this Martin Ryan ( Ford CC) made an attempt at getting away, gaining an advantage of around 15 seconds, but with no-one able to bridge the gap to share the workload he was swallowed up by the pack.

A strung out bunch arrived at the chequered flag, the win being taken by Bradley Meacham (Velo Virtuoso) , followed by Sam Brown and Colin McPherson (non affiliated).
