Thurrock Cycle Training

The Travel Thurrock team at Thurrock Council has commissioned Trailnet to deliver a series of cycle training sessions for local residents.

These will take place across the borough, with initial sessions scheduled in Purfleet, Tilbury and Stanford-le-Hope.

All sessions are led by qualified, experienced instructors and include an introduction to basic bike maintenance where we show you how to check your bike before riding.

Whether you are looking to learn how to ride, wanting to improve your bike handling or gain confidence cycling in traffic, they have a session for you.

Beginner Sessions are designed for those who either can’t cycle or who need help in improving their bike control

Intermediate Sessions are for those that can ride reasonably well but lack the confidence to ride in even light traffic

Advanced Sessions are for those with good bike control who’d like to learn how to safely ride in quite heavy traffic and to negotiate major junctions.

Family Sessions are focused on showing you how to find local places for family rides and how to get everyone there and back safely.

Family Cycle Day – They are also holding a day of cycling activities at Davy Down on Sunday 22 June. No booking is required.

Bike Polo Demonstration Day – For those wanting to try something new, come along to Blackshots on Sunday 15 June to try out this exciting urban sport. You don’t need to bring anything as all bikes and equipment are supplied. The event is free and takes place at the Blackshots tennis courts between 11am and 4pm. Anyone confident riding one-handed can come along to try it out and bikes, equipment, helmets and knee/elbow pads are provided.
