2014 is the year that Le Tour comes to Essex. Don’t miss your chance to volunteer for this exciting event!

Still time to sign up to be a ‘Tour Maker’ volunteer!

As we welcome another big year for Sport, Essex residents have a unique opportunity to play a part in the Tour de France 2014 – by registering to be a ‘Tour Maker’ volunteer.

Volunteers will be needed on Monday 7 July 2014, as Stage 3 of Le Tour makes its way through Essex before heading to London to finish on the Mall in front of Buckingham Palace.

Essex Residents have been given until Monday 20 January 2014 to register their interest in being a Tour Maker by visiting

Since this opportunity was announced in December 2013, interest in volunteering at this major cycling event has been flooding in, demonstrating that the Games Makers, Sports Makers and London and Essex Ambassadors have inspired a legacy in volunteering for sport. Don’t miss out on this opportunity. Register your interest before Monday 20 January 2014!

Those who register will be contacted when more details on the application process and the volunteering opportunities when they become available. Tour Makers will be in the front line to welcome the world and help millions of spectators have a fantastic time.

The route enters Essex north of Saffron Walden, taking in parts of Uttlesford, Braintree, Chelmsford and Epping Forest, leaving the county through Epping en route to London. View a map of the route here>>

Volunteers made a huge impact When Essex hosted the London 2012 Olympic Mountain Bike events and the Torch relay, so for your opportunity to contribute to another major sporting event, please sign up and register your interest before 20 January 2014!
