Hell of the Ashdown Challenge

The Hell of the Ashdown sportive is taking place on Sunday 24th February 2013. Distance is 100k and the ride starts from Biggin Hill in Kent and winds it’s way around the picturesque Kent countryside taking in eight climbs of varying length’s and gradients. 1. Cudham Test Hill 1 in 4. 2. Toys Hill a  2 mile grind. 3. Up to Mark Beech. 4. Forest Row to Ashdown Forest Heights a  2 mile grind. 5. The Wall  an  infamous 2.5 mile grind. 6. Nouvelle Col de Groombridge. 7. Bayleys Hill  you guessed it  2.5 miles up! 8. Star Hill  the sting in the tail. On Saturday 24th November Koksijde in Belgium will be hosting the third round in the 2012-2013 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup, and Gateway Cycling will be there! Gateway Cycling In Action at Cyclothon UK 2012

On Thursday 13th September Steve Willsone, Matt Willsone and Rob Michell took part in this years Cyclothon UK at Brands Hatch to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and Pilgrims Hospice.  Steve and Rob took part in the 12hr solo event and completed 172 miles and 182 miles respectively.  Matt rode the 8hr solo and completed 100 miles.  That’s a fantastic achievement of over 450 miles between them! Annual Hill Climb

The following are the Hill Climb results from this morning – well done Ben. I think the conditions were different for Russell since he started some time before everyone else to set a benchmark. It is a well known fact that the density of air is much greater before 10am than after. Social Ride Around Canvey Island

The recreation group had their first ride for the 2011 season around Canvey Island on Saturday 16th April. The group met at Benfleet Station Car park and rode a circular, mostly ‘off road’ route around the sea wall. The total distance covered was approx. 12/14 miles.
