Nine riders met up this morning at Chalkwell for the Seaside Special. There were seven Gateway members and two guests. Frances led the train and we had a gentle ride down to Uncle Tom’s Cabin. After some refreshments everyone was keen to extend the ride so we carried on past the Garrison estate and looped round via Barling. We were all glad to get back to Rossi’s for another rest and a well deserved ice cream. … Read entire article »

The route is quite flat and is easy riding and is about 17 miles – start to finish – and manageable for most, a nice steady pace, keeping together. We’ll be meeting at BLACKSHOTS LEISURE CENTRE, Blackshots Lane Grays, this seems to be more popular and central for most folk. We’ll then be heading to … Read entire article »

Waltham Abbey Recreation Ride – Saturday 11th October

Waltham Abbey Recreation Ride – Saturday 11th October

The sky above was cloudy as we started the ride from Limehouse station. The five of us cycled along the Lee canal through Hackney and Walthamstow Marshes for a short stop at Springfield Park. The whole area was a hive of activity with rowers, cyclists and joggers. It was tempting to stay longer to watch them. We continued northwards along the tow path past the numerous house boats moored along the bank up to Enfield. At this … Read entire article »

Altogether 6 of us assembled in Blackmore on Aug 31st for a short family ride of around 7 miles . For those who don’t know, Blackmore is a very pretty village 4 miles north of Brentwood. It has been awarded the status of “best kept village in Essex” on many occasions.
