Sunday Ride to Writtle

Despite other counts and descriptions to the contrary, this ride set off from Bulphan with 7 riders. Nick M. dived off early on. Out via Doesgate Lane and Lower Dunton Road and across the A127. Fortunately the boot fair was closed so no problem there. Then up the hill at Rectory Road towards Billericay. Left at the top and left at the traffic lights on London Road followed by a quick right onto Mountnessing Road. Following around and on to Old Church Lane eventually leading to Old Church Road and Thoby Lane, another Mountnessing Road and clockwise round the Viper circuit beyond Blackmore. On through Highwood to Writtle. We arrived at the Lordship Tea Rooms where we met up with Mike H. and had a decent break and chat.

Return via Cow Watering Lane, Newney Green, Radley Green and Pigstye Green to cross the A414 at Norton Heath and back to Blackmore. Then Blackmore Road, Green Street and Roman Road got us back to Mountnessing where we came back the way we went out.

All in all a very nice ride – even if it was about 20 miles longer than I had expected.
