Gateway Cycling AGM: Friday 14th April 2023 7:30pm

To be held at Orsett Churches Hall

I am writing to remind all our members that the Gateway Cycling Annual General Meeting has been scheduled for Friday 14th April at 7:30 pm and is to be held at Orsett Churches Hall.

To be able to carry out any of the required club business, we need 20 current club members to attend. Without that level of attendance we will be unable to update the Club Constitution or fill the outstanding Committee posts:

• Treasurer
• Webmaster
• Clothing Secretary
• Ladies Secretary
• Youth Coach

Any members wishing to consider taking on any of the committee roles can still contact the existing officers, who would be more than willing to explain what is involved. The Club Officials details can still be found on the club website using the following link:

There has been one comment on the proposed changes to the Club Constitution and that is as follows:

5.2.3    Any Committee member may be re-elected or re-co-opted without limit with the exception of the Treasurer, who should have a maximum tenure of 3 consecutive years to reduce the chance of fraud.

This will be included in the update (see rev 11) and was indeed confirmed by the Committee to be incorporated some time ago.

I note that over 20 of the current club members have not managed to login to the club website to view the documents linked in the original AGM notification. I urge all members to do this so that you are aware of the updates proposed and so that you actually know what the club constitution and rules are.

Please attend the meeting to show support for the club and to ensure that the club and Committee can carry out its remit to provide facilities for and to promote participation in the amateur sport of cycling in Thurrock and South Essex – as well as getting out for a ride every now and then.
