Sunday Recreation Ride 25th September

Thx Jon for another great ride.
Dave came to say hello and wave us off. We headed towards the general direction of the Tilbury Ferry, joining the river front at the World’s End pub. With the Thames on our right we pretty much stayed on this picturesque route, with blue skies above, to Coalhouse Fort. From there we continued off road towards Mucking, joining the main road just before E Tilbury station for the final stretch. Bob was waiting for us at Mucking Reserve, having cycled there independently. Cafe is now fully functioning and serving hot food so I indulged in the excellent and notorious jacket potato. Usual lively chat before heading off again. Unfortunately Vic had a puncture just as we were leaving but this was rectified reasonably quickly. He, Les and Bob headed straight home via SLH, while the rest of us continued off road following the river to Rainbow Lane. Crossed over the Port Rd staying off road all the way to White Lion Hill which all except for 1 of us cycled up: 1 walked with her Brompton. Through Fobbing then a mixture of off road and back lanes into SLH and home via the old A13. 31 mile round trip for me.

Thanks for this Sharon, you captured it all very well, hopefully we can do another similar one soon – before the weather breaks… Super company, helping and supporting one another through difficult patches – Gateway Cycling at its best… Cheers! folks

Good ride guys and girls. Apologies for being a bit short of puff. Plus a visit from the puncture fairy. Special thanks to Les for getting me back to Blackshots.
