Typical Wednesday Gateway Berwick Ponds Ride

The typical Wednesday Berwick Ponds Ride starts off a little disjointed. It depends who is talking to whom and about what. We start at around 10 o’clock and in several groups, making our way to the main reason for the ride – the Puddledock Cafe lunchtime break. The full route is as shown on the map but there are various shorter options and alternatives.

From Orsett we go to Bulphan passing Thurrock Airfield then down Dunnings Lane and St. Mary’s Lane under the M25 and past Cranham golf course turning left into Pike Lane. Turning right onto Ockendon Road, we follow it round to Harwood Hall Lane, right into Park Farm Road and left into Berwick Pond Road. All the way down here until Warwick Lane when we turn left and head towards Damyns Hall Aerodrome, across Aveley Road to Bramble Lane. Turning left onto Stubbers Lane and then back onto Ockendon Road passing the Stubbers Adventure Centre. Retracing the route down Pike Lane and into the Puddledock Cafe. After some decent food and conversation it is time to leave and follow the route back to Orsett.

Even though we ride this route every week (generally come rain, shine and a bit of wind) it is a nice convivial outing, pretty flat and one not to be missed.
