GATEWAY FAMILY RIDE from Grays to Rainham Marshes

As part of Bike week 2022 , on Saturday June 11th we will be running an easy paced ride to the RSPB in Purfleet.

This ride will be suitable for new riders, families, or those that want to enjoy a slower paced, shorter ride. It is open to members and non-members.

We’ll meet from 09.15 am at Blackshots Sports Centre and will start the ride at 09:30am. The meeting place is on the walkway just outside the entrance to the sports centre. Make sure you make your self-known to the ride leader when you arrive.

The route will be mainly off road or on cycle lanes and will take us through the Mardyke along cycle paths and quiet roads. The ride will be at a very slow pace, an average of around 7-8mph. As a guide a quick walk would be around 2-3 mph. The ride to the visitors’ centre and back is around 15 miles.

Your bike must be roadworthy, check your bike the day before to avoid disappointment on the day! You should also have a pump, puncture repair kit and a spare inner tube. We also recommend that you bring a drink, some cash for refreshments and a mobile phone. The club recommends that all riders wear a helmet. Riders under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
