Along the Lee Valley

Four of us meet up at Grays station for the ride; Jon, Matt, Sharon and myself. Two train journeys later we were cycling along the Lee Valley towpath heading northwards

At Enfield we steered away from the canal and rode through Meridian Park to Waltham Abbey. If we had had more time then we may have stopped to have a look about this historic town. Instead as the weather was so nice we continued into the Lee Valley Country Park. It is a perfect place for cycling with good wide surfaces passing alongside many picturesque lake. We rode over to Dobbs Weir near Hoddesdon and to the Regents Palace cafe for lunch, where the food was both inexpensive and filling. The cafe was crowded but we were able to wedge ourselves in a corner.

We returned along the towpath. Sharon and I headed towards Blackhorse Road station whilst Matt and Jon rode another 6 miles to West Ham. No matter as we all met up again at Barking.
