Gateway Cycling New Year’s Day Ride – 1st Jan 2017

The old year is slipping away and the new one fast approaching and it’s time to start afresh… So do come and join us for the traditional family Gateway Cycling – New Year’s Day Ride. This event has been running for many years – through fair weather and foul!

The route is mainly flat and easy and all ‘off road’ along cycle paths and tracks. It’s ideal for youngsters and less experienced riders – at a steady pace where we all stick together. We start from Blackshots Leisure Centre, Blackshots Lane Grays. RM16 2JU. We will meet beside the entrance steps and head out via Davy Down and along the Mardyke Valley Country Park trail, to the RSPB Visitors Centre Purfleet. A cuppa and cake here if you wish… Or, continue on and loop along the Marsh Road path taking in vistas of the River Thames – path and then back for refreshments. The route overall is about 16 miles or less…

Meet at Blackshots at 09.30 Sunday 1st January 2017 and set off shortly after. We hope to see you there, please spread the word to friends and family and those who you think would like to join in.

Make sure your bike is roadworthy; take a pump, a puncture repair kit and ideally a spare inner tube, weatherproof clothing, a drink and the mobile phone. Children of 17 and under will need to be accompanied by mum and/or dad or a responsible adult…

Have fun on your bike – keep pedalling.
