Gateway Cycling Events During Bike Week Saturday 11th June – Sunday 19th June 2016

BULPHAN RIDES
Sunday 12th June, meeting at 9.15 – depart 9.30.
Location: Bulphan C of E School Fen Lane Bulphan RM14 3RL. Broadly three levels of ride will leave from here:
One, for fit experienced riders, at a fast pace, with an average speed of above 16mph and a distance of fifty miles or more taking in country side, villages, hills and varying terrain. Two, a medium paced ride of about 16mph or less, a distance of 35 – 40 miles, with some hills. Three, a slow and steady recreation ride with a speed of about 10 mph, around country lanes with some slight gradients. Each ride will have a ‘tea/cake stop’. Speak to the ride leader upon arrival – to see which route will suit you best. OR…

BEGINNERS RIDE
Sunday 12
th June, meeting at 9.15 to start at 9.30
meeting at Blackshots Leisure Centre, Blackshots Lane Grays RM16 2JU, near to the steps of the swimming pool. Riding from Blackshots to the Purfleet – RSPB centre. It’s a distance of about twelve miles there and back. All are welcome; it will be a flat traffic free route along dedicated cycle tracks and the paths through the Davy Down Country Park. There will be an experienced ride leader at both the front and rear; no one will be left behind… The pace will be where you can pedal and chat at the same time

LAKESIDE – STAND
Tuesday 14
th June 2016. 09.30am to approx’ 10pm
Gateway Cycling Club Members, along with others will be manning a small stand at the Central Atrium at Lakeside Thurrock. This will be to talk about cycling generally and the benefits of health, fitness and fun and joining a cycle club such as Gateway – and more…

MIDWEEK RIDE
Wednesday 15
th June 2016 10am
Meeting at the Whitmore Arms, Rectory Road, Orsett RM16 3LB. For slightly more experienced riders, heading along country lanes towards Daymns Airfield and the Upminster area and return. A stop for lunch/tea/cake… Approx’ 30 miles, mainly flat.

TIME TRIALS (TT)
Wednesday 15
th June 2016. 6.45pm for 7pm start.
This is meeting at Dunnings Lane Bulphan RM14 3RJ, in a small lay by about halfway along. This is a fun type – non serious open event – you against the clock around a six and half mile circuit.

FAMILY RECREATION RIDE
Wednesday 15
th June 2016. Meeting at 6pm for 6.15
departure from the new Hardie Park, Hardie Road, Stanford le Hope, SS17 0PB. This is an ideal ride along a flat route to the Essex Wildlife Centre at Mucking, whose staff has kindly agreed to stay open for us for tea and cake. It’s a distance of about six miles, ideal for families and children and the less experienced rider.

With all rides please speak to the ride leader so you know where you are going and what’s happening. NOTE. All bikes should be roadworthy and carry a pump, tyre repair kit, and ideally a spare inner tube. Take a drink and a mobile phone. Children under sixteen must be accompanied by a responsible adult, mum and/or dad. Everyone should wear a helmet and bright clothing. Road safety rules should be obeyed. Before setting out please check the website for any alterations to times and locations etc … Also, see if we have added any further rides or activities … Have Fun! Enjoy your cycling.
