Beginners Ride Sunday 17th Jan

This Sunday, 17th January will be a ride suitable for new riders, families, or those that want to enjoy a slower paced, shorter ride. It is open to members and non-members.

We’ll meet from 08:15am at Blackshots Sports Centre and will start the ride at 08:30am.

The meeting place is on the walkway just outside the entrance to the sports centre. Make sure you make your self known to the Ride Leader when you arrive.

The route will be on road and will take us through Orsett and down to Bulphan where we will meet the other club members who will be meeting at Bulphan C of E Primary School for the start of the longer club runs. Depending on the group we will then either return to Blackshots, or extend the ride to a local café. Perhaps the Puddledock.

The ride will be at a very slow pace, an average of around 7-8mph. As a guide a quick walk would be around 2-3 mph. The ride to the school (Bulphan) and back is around 13 miles and takes just a couple of hours of relaxed riding time. Your bike must be roadworthy, check your bike the day before to avoid disappointment on the day! You should also have a pump, puncture repair kit and a spare inner tube. We also recommend that you bring a drink, some cash for refreshments and a mobile phone. The club recommends that all riders wear a helmet. Riders under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

I shall be leading this group and welcome any help from other club members. If you are riding on the 09:30 Club Run you could ride down with us as a warm up .

If you have any questions about this ride then either pop a comment down below, email a Club Official, or send a message via the Contact page. You can also tweet us @GatewayCycling

Sorry I wont be joining Dave tomorrow as in midwinter I think 8 15 am is rather too early to start a beginners ride, or is it that I am getting soft in my old age. Bob D
