2014 Hill Climb

Wet and showery, a bit windy, and a grey sky, not ideal conditions for cycling in but 18 riders (and 1 spectator) turned out for the hill climb yesterday! After having 15 riders at the winter TT the day before this was a very good turnout and things are looking good for the club.

There were 15 club members riding, and 3 riders rode it as a guest. The fastest time (4:15), and new club hill climb champion, is Paul T who only joined the club on the morning of the hill climb! He beat John W by 1 second, several riders also beat their best time from last year, with some of them taking half a minute off of their time.
Gary E didn’t finish the hill climb, well he did but it was on foot. It wasn’t because he couldn’t manage the hill, he suffered a mechanical due to a fall on the way to Bulphan this morning. Luckily it was only his bike that suffered any damage although Gary was a bit bashed about (several jelly babies were involved in the incident and we are unaware of any injuries to them at this time).

Big thanks go to Colin and Trevor for being the starters, you did a good job, and thanks to everyone who rode on a bit of a rotten morning and made it a good event.
