Hi everyone, I see that the subject of group rides is causing a lot of dialogue on here (WhatsApp) . The Committee will be meeting virtually to discuss the content of the latest release from British Cycling next week. Until then formal club rides are still suspended. Virtual Gateway Cycling AGM – The Results
To all Gateway Cycling members From Phil Baker , General Secretary Thanks to all that logged on to the club site, read the Financial report and proposed Social Media statement, seconded a committee and /or commented on the process. There were 34 who replied. You took part in the first Gateway Cycling Club Virtual AGM and made it a success. As a result of your participation the meeting was quorate so the committee members can now serve until the next AGM in 2021 which will hopefully revert to the more conventional format. In these rather uncertain times, we assume this will satisfy the legal requirements. Having used the website for this process I will endeavour to post more on here in the future. Virtual AGM – Just 48 hours left to participate
Thanks to all the members who have already taken part in the VAGM (VirtualAGM) by logging onto the Gateway Cycling website and responding by seconding a committee member and viewing the Social Media and Financial statements. It’s very unfortunate that we cannot have a face to face AGM, eat pizza and have a beer afterwards, but coronavirus has had a devastating impact and we must do what we can to keep ourselves and our families safe. From the Gateway Cycling Committee
It’s good to see so many members out on the road, observing social distancing rules and riding safely, as well as arranging group riding on Zwift and other online platforms, getting fitter and keeping in touch with each other. Around this time of year we would have held the club AGM 2020, voted in new club officers, been told about club finances, had a chat, eaten pizza and had a drink in the Foxhounds. Social distancing makes that kind of difficult this year, so on 11th May the Gateway committee had a brief meeting via Zoom to discuss a way forward. Sadly Gateway cycling is unable to organise any rides at present. We have seen a lot more people cycling over the last few weeks. Hopefully you will all keep this up when life starts to return to normal. When we are able to resume our normal activities, we hope that many of you will join us.
