AGM Friday 8th. April

Gateway AGM Friday 8th. April Orsett Churches Centre 7:30 pm. The last AGM was so much fun we’ve decided to have a second one just six months later. To be honest it’s just getting back to normal service following the disruption of the covid years. So, what’s to be done. Well firstly, and most importantly, we need three people keen to get on in life and who need something good to put on their CV. Add Gateway Cycling Chair, General Secretary or Kit Secretary to your CV and see the doors that open up to you. Secondly, we need to look forward and see how we can all build the club back to it’s pre-virus years. As a starter turn up at Bulphan on this Sunday at 9:00 am. for the charity ride on behalf of a Ukraine … Read entire article »

Vacancies

Vacancies Having just seen your profile on LinkedIn I am pleased to be able to offer you a raft of exciting job opportunities which are going to become vacant in the coming days. I am therefore inviting you for interview on Friday 8th. April at 7:30 pm. at Orsett Churches Centre. It might well be, on the day, that you decide these are not for you but I’d still implore you to come along if only for the excellent networking opportunities that the event will provide. Meeting up with the many like-minded people expected, might also result in fewer Sundays at the golf course. We see a brighter future ahead. With warmer days, more sunlight hours and the abolition of government restrictions we would also recommend investing in tea shops, pubs and bike … Read entire article »

Charity Event April 10th.

Charity Event Following the previous local charity ride in 2021, we have decided to run another charity event after the AGM on the Sunday of the 10thApril.  We plan to meet at the school in Bulphan at around 9.00am for a 9.30am start. The route will be 20-25 miles in total and we will be stopping at Youngs café (this could be subject to change closer to the date?). Once again, the club will match all donations, we would suggest a donation of £5 per entry or you can donate more if you wish and we will be supporting a charity to help support the people of Ukraine. You can make a donation on the day or you can donate via the club bank account Gateway Cycling 30-18-34 01559612 using “donate” as the … Read entire article »

AGM 2022

AGM 2022 Winter and Omicron fade slowly as the days lengthen. Daffodils respond and hasten that feeling of Spring and the Great Re-awakening. April! Is there a better time to have the AGM? Sunday rides hopefully revitalised by then and perhaps a Sportive or two. What an opportunity to make your mark on the club. Come along on Friday April 8th. Put yourself forward as Chairman/ Chairwoman, Secretary or Kit Koordinator (not sure that’s the official name). If not, still come along to vote me out for the second time in a year. Otherwise I might end up like Putin. Watch out for polonium in the teapot. Or just come along to catch up and talk sprockets. If you haven’t got around to paying your subs yet, bring them along so you … Read entire article »

Gateway New Year

Gateway Cycling 2022 I am inspired by some of the recent Gateway WhatsApp comments regarding the camaraderie of the road and so this year I see a buddy road movie. I’ve loved ‘buddy movies’ since seeing ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’ back in the 70s. I didn’t know it was a genre then but as the years went on, I always came out of the cinema with a warm glow after a good buddy movie. Sometimes, it would be a war movie involving self-sacrifice (see ‘Sea of Sand for the best example), but, more often than not, it would be a road movie like the classic ‘The Blues Brothers’, ‘Easy Rider’ or ‘Thelma and Louise’. The physical journey in these is usually not the important part of the film, the film … Read entire article »
