Formal Club Rides Still Suspended

Following an earlier announcement relating to the reinstatement of club rides and a considered response from Noel Edwards, it is clearly apparent that there is more to be done than just meet up  and ride in this ‘New Normal’. Taking everything into account the committee have discussed the issues raised and we feel that we should continue with the suspension of organised Gateway Club rides until such times as we have arranged for Risk Assessments to be written and all members have agreed to them. Thank you for everyone’s patience in these unprecedented times. The committee will  meet virtually next week and, with the assistance of Noel, I’m positive we can ensure that the necessary Risk Assessment can be undertaken and will be available to all members very shortly. Virtual Gateway Cycling AGM – The Results

To all Gateway Cycling  members From Phil Baker , General Secretary Thanks to all that logged on to the club site, read the Financial report and proposed Social Media statement, seconded a committee and /or commented on the process. There were 34 who replied. You took part in the first Gateway Cycling Club Virtual AGM and made it a success. As a result of your participation the meeting was quorate so the committee members can now serve until the next AGM in 2021 which will hopefully revert to the more conventional format. In these rather uncertain times, we assume this will satisfy the legal requirements. Having used the website for this process I will endeavour to post more on here in the future. Despite the restrictions during lock down it has been good to see so … Read entire article »

From the Gateway Cycling Committee

It’s good to see so many members out on the road, observing social distancing rules and riding safely, as well as arranging group riding on Zwift and other online platforms, getting fitter and keeping in touch with each other. Around this time of year we would have held the club AGM 2020, voted in new club officers, been told about club finances, had a chat, eaten pizza and had a drink in the Foxhounds. Social distancing makes that kind of difficult this year, so on 11th May the Gateway committee had a brief meeting via Zoom to discuss a way forward. Brief outcome was – the current club officers have agreed to stand until the 2021 AGM the club constitution will be updated to include social media statements the club accounts for the calendar year … Read entire article »

Club Nights and AGM 2020

ALL Gateway members PLEASE READ THIS!! Here are some very important dates for your diary. The scheduled April club night is on Easter Friday, April 10th, and the hall is not available. If any members would like to meet up, perhaps there could be a get together at the Foxhound Pub instead, just an idea. Let other members know what you would like to do on Whatsapp or Facebook. The AGM will be held on Friday 17th April in our usual venue. Please put this in your diary, calendar or whatever! We need as many members as possible to attend as we need to vote on amendments to the constitution relating to social media, to approve the financial report for the club and to vote for any changes of club officials.
