Burnham and Baddow Cyclosportive
The Cold Train. A bitter westerly wind greeted competitors for the Burnham and Baddow Cyclosportive’, organised by Southend Wheelers. Starting at East Hanningfield, 237 riders set out from the Village Hall at 9am over staggered start times, to complete either the 40k or more gruelling – 100k course. For the uninitiated this ‘sportive’ is the equivalent of running a marathon but riding road bikes instead, so it’s not for the unfit or summer rider. The New Year’s Day Ride 2013
Gateway Cyclists and their guests gathered in the sunshine at the Davy Down Pumping Station for their New Year’s Day Annual Bike Ride. Seen off by a couple of club stalwarts Ian and Deb, (who were not too well…) about 20 of us set off along the slightly squelchy track, heading for the RSPB reserve at Purfleet. New Year’s Day Ride
This annual event has set us off in the right frame of cycling mind for a few years now, with our feet in the pedals and our seat on the saddle – preparing us for whatever lies ahead… This is a steady paced recreational type ride along flat cycle paths, through country parkland and linking up onto the River Thames. Recreation Ride Through Shoeburyness, Gt. Wakering & Barling 18th August 2012
Saturday 18th August 2012 we had an excellent countryside ride around Great Wakering and Barling, fifteen folk in all turned up, the youngest being eight years old (well done to Thomas B (-: ) and the senior rider being Bob D. Recreation Ride – Regents Canal & Central London 23 June 2012
We had an enjoyable ride alongside the Regents Canal last Saturday 23rd. There were only six of us in the end, however several folk emailed who wanted to come along but just couldn’t make it. The weather was good with sunshine and cloud and a little breeze.
