Gateway Club Nights

With August club night at the end of the week, the club would like to encourage members to come along and participate in drinking tea, eating cake and socialize away from the bike with the whole club and not just the regular ride groups. We are going to try and make more of a feature of club nights as this seems to be a dying activity of the more popular web based/social media cycling clubs that are becoming the norm these days and the club is keen to keep the club night tradition going.

August – We will be introducing a trial of a suggestion box so if you would like to have some input into what you would like to see in the club, ideas of events, rides, anything we can improve please have your say. You don’t have to put your name on it if you don’t want to and the committee will take note of anything suggest. This is your club, so have your say.

September – Bianca from Fit Your Bike will be coming down to do a talk on bike fit and injury prevention.  A handy talk to keep you fit, healthy and on the bike all year round. She really does know her stuff and has worked with several club members with great results.

November – Dave Porter of Herongate Cycles will be giving a demonstration and chat on basic bike maintenance including punctures tips as the puncture fairy will be visiting more as the winter rolls in.

December – Dave Porter of Herongate Cycles will be back again for a more technical discussion carrying on from the previous month. There will also be some Christmas festivities I’m sure.

Dave, this is welcome news, these are the type of club nights we used to have when the club was first formed as Dave Porter will remember. You and the committee are to be commended for reviving this, lets hope it is appreciated and is successful. Bob D.
