Sunday Improver Rides 2016

Gateway Cycling are starting their Regular Improver rides every Sunday for 2016.

Gateway Cycling are committed to providing rides for all types of riders, and as such will now be running regular ‘Improver’s’ rides. These rides will run every Sunday at our normal start time of 09:30. This ride used to be called the ‘Easy’ ride but due to some misunderstandings recently we have decided to change the name to ‘Improvers’ ride.

These rides are aimed at riders who are not completely new to cycling (for those who are new to cycling we run a monthly ‘beginners’ ride), but may be new to club cycling.
This ride is not limited to prospective new members, members of Gateway Cycling can join in as well if they wish.

The rides will take place every Sunday at 09:30 from our regular meeting place outside Bulphan Primary School in Fen Lane.

The rides will be lead by one of our club members, and will be especially suited for those riders that wish to ride in a group but are worried whether they will be able to keep up with our intermediate group. The pace of the ride will be determined by the slowest rider and everyone will regroup at the top of any hills, this ride is intended as a stepping stone to our intermediate ride. The ride will use one of our usual club routes and will involve a cafe stop at around the halfway mark. If you can cycle 20+ miles alone, and at an average speed of around 13-14mph, then these rides may be what you need to build up your stamina to make the step up to our intermediate group in the future.
There are no fees or booking for this ride, just turn up and ride! Please make sure that you bring a pump, spare inner tube, helmet, and a drink. When you arrive at the start please ask for the ‘Improver’s Ride Leader’.

Please try and get to the start promptly as the ride will leave Bulphan at 9:30am, and aim to be back about 1pm. You are welcome to bring your bike in your car to the start as there is ample parking available.

Until the weather warms up a bit these rides will be dependant on the weather conditions. If a ride is to be cancelled due to the weather it will be posted here the evening before.
