Saturday (21st Feb) Leisure Ride

This Saturday 21st February 2015, (a bit ‘last minute’ I’m afraid!) I’m planning to ride the tow path of Regents Canal. I’ll be taking the 09.48, train from Grays rail station, it’s platform 3. (The side where the taxis queue…) to Limehouse, arriving 10.14, and from there pick up the canal and do a circular route, back to Fenchurch Street. It’s about 16 mile’s, taking in the sights … if I’m feeling energetic I may cycle back to Thurrock. This route is flat and hard surfaced but a bit ‘lumpy’ in places. I’m aiming for a comfort break at Primrose Hill area, a ‘Panini’ and coffee about £6-7 ish. I’ve used my road bike in the past for this though I’m likely to take the hybrid. The pace may be a little slow on the tow path but will pick up once on the roads.

This is a ‘check it out’ route ride intended for reasonably experienced riders. However, as in previous years, I hope to arrange rides along this route in the summer for riders of all abilities. If you can’t make this one I’ll probably do a couple more, midweek, before the fine weather.

The weather looks fine, and all are welcome, take you camera phones there’s some interesting sites along the way. Children of 17 years will need to be accompanied by mum and/or dad… Take the usual puncture outfit and pump and an inner tube.

All the best.
