Waltham Abbey Recreation Ride – Saturday 11th October

Waltham Abbey Recreation Ride – Saturday 11th October

The sky above was cloudy as we started the ride from Limehouse station. The five of us cycled along the Lee canal through Hackney and Walthamstow Marshes for a short stop at Springfield Park. The whole area was a hive of activity with rowers, cyclists and joggers. It was tempting to stay longer to watch them. We continued northwards along the tow path past the numerous house boats moored along the bank up to Enfield. At this … Read entire article »

Seaside Recreation Ride – Saturday 13th September

After meeting at Leigh Station, seven of us went onto two tree island for a cuppa and comfort break. The weather was overcast with an easterly wind and we even had a few spots of rain, which of course didn’t deter us. Suitably refreshed we rode through old Leigh and onto the seafront path and walked to Chalkwell. (A couple of members of the group didn’t fancy tackling the couple of hills on the road through old Leigh, which was fine by me.) After this short walk, where we were then joined by another member we then rode at a steady 8/9 mph along the seafront on the cycle path to Uncle Toms Cabin at Shoebury for lunch. At Shoebury we were joined by four more members who had missed us at … Read entire article »
